Avalanches at Mount Aspiring

The power of the sun, wind and gravity shook the mountains this weekend, triggering several avalanches from Rob Roy Glacier.  Hanging off the steep face of the mountain, you could hear the glacier cracking under its own weight and with each inch it shifted, the excess snow came tumbling down.  Humbled by this amazing sight, we continued our trek into Mount Aspiring National Park.  Once we had enough for the day, we headed to Queenstown for the night, only to take in some more beautiful views of Lake Wakitipu the next morning.
