When things don't go according to plan, that's when the adventure starts. The plan was to trek 26km on day one and finish the entire climb but ambition may have got the best of us as we had some unexpected obstacles along the way. However, the fallback plan was not in the least disappointing. After nearly 8 hours of climbing and trudging through waist deep snow, the trail had beat us. We decided to retire our legs for the evening on this gorgeous glacial alpine lake called Green Lake. After the second day we ventured up to the top of the ridge and ate our lunch at Island lake, surrounded by white peaks and rainbow trout. We spent both nights in the Green Lake hut under a blanket of innumerable stars and woke up to the sunrise over the mountain. By the third day, the hut had become our home and we weren't ready to part from the view. We took in the last of its beauty and followed our tracks back to the trailhead. Despite the challenge and the risk, this was the most beautiful place I have ever been to and our determination was worth it in the end.
